I’m 14 and I have never been to school!
Hi, I am Adam Naji – a 14-year-old self-taught developer and entrepreneur.
I am the founder of HACK the FUTURE of EDUCATION, a movement that I ignited in 2024.
It might seem contradictory that I am passionate about education and the future of education technology, yet I have never been to a traditional school! Not even kindergarten!
My VERY Different Mom!
In October 2011, when I was almost six months old, my mom wrote this article that started the whole homeschooling journey:
Since I got pregnant in August 2010, I have been on a bumpy hormonal trip; everything seems so intense and magnified but at the same time most things seem trivial and marginal. It is like wearing bifocal glasses while driving on the highway. I thought once I gave birth I would welcome my old self back but I was never more wrong! Adam has taken me hostage and I am enjoying being a captive of this tiny yet amazing creature. My whole world lights up when he smiles, I cry when he cries, and I laugh when he giggles. He is a yummy edible bundle of joy – and I do not want him to go to school! Yes! This is what I just confessed! I do not want my baby to attend school in Egypt or anywhere in the world! Education the way it is today – and the way it has been for hundreds of years – is a sin against humanity! We are all victims of the educational system no matter how good or bad you think it is!
What was her problem?
She disapproved of admission interviews, school hours, homework, grading system, classroom environment, curricula, and hours!
Marwa Rakha - Montessori Egypt
Shortly after, my mom embarked on a long journey of studying The Montessori Method, Philosophy, Didactic Materials, and Educational Activites. For the first 12 years of my life, I enjoyed plenty of lessons outdoors, countless field trips, and fun science experiments. My mom was my main teacher, but I had other teachers too who helped me master coding, chess, Arabic, English, Chinese, and Italian. I have explored art, music, and a variety of sports. When I turned 11, As an experiment, I enrolled for the first time in Time4Learning - an online school based in the US. The experience was fun, enjoyable, interactive, and inspires a lot of my work at HACK the FUTURE of EDUCATION.
